Science Says That Men Get Stressed When Their Wives Make More Money
We live in a pretty expensive world be it in a first world country or a third world country. Nowadays most couples see both the men and women working. This is because it is hard to make ends meet on just one income. This is why both the husband and the wife have jobs. But, not all couples have jobs that pay them equally. Have you ever wondered what changes different incomes make on a person’s mindset? Well, science has an answer for you.
1The economical stress
There is no doubt that when one partner earns more money than the other there is a bit of an economic dependency created. If one spouse is making ends meet while the other does not contribute much a mental stress is created. This is more prone to happen to men than it is to happen to women.
2We are programmed to earn
Men especially are taught from birth that they have to earn for their families. The whole concept of ‘Man of the house’ is a fine example of it. The idea is that men are the ones who should earn the bread in a house. There is no objection to women working but it is an ideal fantasy that men need to do it first.
3A study proved it
A study was conducted in the United Kingdom at the University of Bath where after studying the data provided by 6,000 heterosexual couples who were together for over 15 years it was discovered that the issues a man could face are directly proportional to how dependent he is on his significant other.
4It all boils down to masculinity
When you think about it, it all boils down to masculinity. For centuries men worked in fields, fought in wars while women stayed at home and looked after the children. It was like a rite of passage when a boy turned into a man by earning his salary. Even today some men flex about their income to attract women.
5They need this power balance
This article is not about all men as with everything there will always be exceptions. But, for the men who suffer from this, the root cause is the power imbalance it brings to the relationship. Most men want to feel like the ‘Man’ in the relationship which is only achieved when they do manly things.
