2Your partner considers spending time with you a chore

If spending time with you feels like a chore to your partner then it probably means that they are losing interest in your relationship. Couples tend to spend an awful lot of time together at the beginning of a relationship. This typically tapers off a bit as both partners settle into the relationship and into routine.

It is healthy for couples to spend time apart. But if spending time with you feels more like a chore to your partner then it is perhaps one of the signs of a breakup. Therapist and owner of Abundant Life Counseling St. Louis, Julie Williamson, said “It’s important for each partner to have boundaries and spend time with friends and family, but if you feel like you’re just one more person on their list of people to spend time with, it’s worth addressing your concerns”.

She added that “You want to know that you and your partner can equally rely on each other to be each other’s main person, the one you go to when you need comfort or support of some kind”. Without equal levels of commitment neither of you will be able to trust each other. She suggested having an open conversation with your partner if you notice them pulling away and not making you a priority any longer.

3Your partner doesn’t feel like sharing information with you

When you notice that your partner has been selectively choosing what to tell you, it is an indicator that they may not feel connected to you. These kinds of conversations will seem a lot more distant than usual.

According to Kia James, a licensed therapist, “When your partner is not interested in telling you about important life events, the intimacy begins to fade. The less they share about their life, the more the wall begins to divide the two of you”. James suggests that in this case, rather than leaving things as they are, let your partner know how you feel and perhaps plan some activities that can help the two of you bond.

5You no longer have any fights or arguments

When there are no more arguments or fights in the relationship it could be that your partner has become apathetic. It’s perfectly normal for couples to have occasional disagreements, and to bicker and argue about stuff from time to time. However, when your partner becomes totally unwilling to argue and no longer sees the point in speaking their mind even if it comes across as a bit aggressive, it could mean that they aren’t interested in you any longer. This could also mean that your relationship won’t last very long.
