Meet The World’s Smallest Premature Baby That Is Miraculously Stronger Than All of Us
6Low birth weight and high birth weight
Low birth weight can be caused by a preterm birth or a low gestational age at birth. Low birth weight can also be caused if the infant suffered from a slow prenatal growth making it too small for gestation age. Large birth weight is usually caused if the infant was too large for the gestation age.

7Maternal health
Another factor that can affect the child’s birth weight is the mother’s health during pregnancy. While in the womb the mother is the only source of nutrition for the baby and if the mother isn’t given proper nutrition then this will show on the child at birth. If the mother is suffering from any disease during pregnancy then this will show on the child.

8Mother’s age
The mother’s age also affects the birth weight of a child. If a mother gives birth at 15 or under the age of 15 the weight can be on the lower side. This issue can also be seen if the mother is 35 or above. If a mother has given birth more than twice then the third child is at a higher risk of having low birth weight.

9Environmental factors
Some well-known facts about pregnancy are that maternal tobacco smoking has adverse prenatal outcomes that include LBW. Researchers have now identified that there are some environmental toxins that can also affect pregnancy. The combustion products of solid fuel have been noted to cause many adverse health issues in people. Particulate matter which is a component of ambient air pollution can increase the risk of low birth weight.

10The baby for this article
On August 2018, in Tokyo, a miracle boy was born weighing in at only 268 grams or 9.45 ounces. This was because the child had stopped growing in his mother’s womb. The mother had to be admitted at the Keio University Hospital where the doctors had to deliver the child by an emergency Caesarean section. This was done even though the mother was 24 weeks into her pregnancy to avoid a stillbirth.
