Keep an eye on what this woman does at a gas station
We all have heard random acts of kindness that have been encouraged lately. It is something good that you do for a complete stranger without expecting anything in return. It can be anything from buying food for a needy person to giving an animal some water or food. It can be anything from helping someone cross the street to helping someone in need with what they need.
Here is a similar story about a woman who had a chance encounter with someone in dire need of just some love and encouragement and this woman just helped him out, reigniting the hope within this man’s heart and also making sure that the humanity is still alive in this world.
Read for yourself about why this man was worried and how the woman helped him out.
1 The woman
One fine day, Nicole Heintz entered into a gas station in her place of residence in Apple Valley in Minnesota. Thanks to a pretty cold winter day, the scenery was pure white in color. The temperature was around 10 degrees and it was biting cold, and she wanted to have some extra time before going to her work. As she entered the gas station, she saw a man standing near the entrance and crying besides his car. The car had a woman and 2 teenage girls. She got out of her car and approached the man and what happened next will astonish you.
2 What happened?
She walked up to him and saw that he was wearing flip-flops in 10 degree temperature. Heintz said, “He looked at me and I could tell he was on the verge of giving up because he didn’t even try to conceal his tears when he said ‘I can’t even provide for my family.” Heintz took her debit card and swiped it in the gas machine hooked up to this man’s car and filled his car up with gas.
The man’s wife emerged from the car and asked the man what happened and when the man told her that Heintz had filled their car with gas, she ran to thank her and shook her hand.
3 The act of kindness
When Heintz saw the clothes that the wife and their two daughters were wearing, she asked them to take whatever clothes they could take from the pile she had in her car, which she was going to donate. The woman and the daughters took as many as they could in order to keep themselves warm in the cold. Heintz said that, moments after she told the mom that she could take those clothes from her car, the mother and her two girls starting digging through those clothes. They wore layers of the sweatshirts and shirts and sweat pants over the worn out clothes they were wearing.
4 Reaction of people
After she had pumped the gas in the man’s car and let his wife and daughters take clothes, other people, who were witnessing the incident came forward and started helping the couple. An elderly couple gave the man a gift card. Another man gave the man his jacket. “Never in my life did I think I would see this kind of thing happen at a gas station with a handful of complete strangers,” Heintz said.
This simply shows that a simple and normal act of kindness can go a long way when it comes to helping someone out in a time of difficulty. Even you can do simple things like offering water to someone in need or pay for someone’s ticket on the subway, you would know you are making a big difference when they smile at you with honest eyes.
