Woman Left Devastated When Boyfriend Drowns During Underwater Proposal
Recently a news story that seemed like clickbait rocked every social media platform. The story was about a man who had drowned while performing an underwater proposal. Most people thought it was a joke but the tragic reality came through when they discovered the news was actually real.
Yes, the news that a man drowned by trying an underwater proposal was true and what was worse was that it was not meant to happen. What was supposed to be the surprise of a lifetime ended up taking a happy life and destroying a couple’s future.
1The people involved
The people involved in today’s sad story are Steven Weber and Kenesha Antoine. This couple was at a monumental point in their relationship. They were on holiday and Steven was going to propose. But everything went wrong and their lives changed forever. This story should be taken with a grain of salt as it teaches the importance of common sense over grand gestures.
The couple was on their dream holiday in Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania. They were staying in a beautiful wooden cabin with a bedroom submerged under the ocean. It was this bedroom that gave Steven the idea for his proposal. The mesmerizing ocean view turned out to be devastating for the couple.
Inspired by the gorgeous underwater view Steven decided to dive into the ocean and propose to Kenesha. He wrote a note and put it in a plastic packet. Then he went to the window of the bedroom and showed the note to Kenesha, who was delighted. Steven was wearing goggles and flippers but tragedy struck soon.
The note Steven wrote was emotional and funny. He started by saying, “I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you”. Then he said, “Everything I love about you I love more every day.” He ended the note by asking her to be his wife. He then pulled out the ring.
Though Steven was wearing goggles and flippers, he didn’t have an oxygen tank. As you can see, more than one picture was taken while he was underwater. This obviously took time and this is what eventually claimed Steven’s life. Steven couldn’t get out of the water soon enough and drowned.
