3 Disney characters are all about life and growing up

According to Disney movie producer Don Hahn, the lack of parents in Disney films was a way to enable the characters to mature in front of their audiences. That’s what Disney movies are about, the little princesses growing up to be mature queens . Belle has to step into her father’s shoes because he gets lost. Bambi’s story is even more heart rending when the little deer watches his mother dying knowing he will never be a little deer anymore.

4 Disney chose his fairytales because of a purpose

Hahn explained that the concept wasn’t Disney’s creation but existing well known fairy tales which he chose to base his movies upon. Invariably they were mostly stories whose central characters had no mother. Why?? Han believed there was one plausible reason and that was the tragic circumstances how Disney lost his own mother and the pain of his loss reflected in his choice of story for his films.

After Walt had made a considerable sum of money, he purchased a house for his parents. The day they moved in, employees from Disney studios were instructed to repair the furnace. A huge mistake by one of the employees led to a fatal gas leak. The next day, the housekeeper arrived to find both Disney’s parents unconscious on the floor. She immediately dragged the couple onto the lawn and made efforts to revive them. Although his father survived, his mother tragically died.
