This Underwater Restaurant Has Just Been Completed In Norway And It Looks Magnificent!

5Designed with environmental sensibilities

The restaurant will not just be a concrete structure that will rest on the seabed; instead, it will become a part of the marine environment of the sea. The sleek and streamlined building which is going to be encapsulated like a concrete shell will have a somewhat coarse kind of a surface, which will basically invite the mussels to come and attach itself on to the structure and with time, as that mollusk community will become stronger, the submerged ‘Under’ will actually become an artificially formed mussel reef which will serve two functions; firstly it will rinse the water of the sea and secondly it will naturally attract many more fishes and other marine life towards the purified waters.

6What all can people expect to see when they visit ‘Under’?

When the customers will enter ‘Under’, they will first be welcomed into the wardrobe area. At the second level of the building is going to be the bar which will mark the transition between the ocean and the shoreline. From this level, guests can look down at the seabed through a narrow window which is going be made vertically on the structure.

7Inspired by the seabed and marine life

At the last level, there is the restaurant seating area which has two long dining tables along with several small ones. It is from this area that the guests will be able to see the marine life through the 11*4 meter window. The lighting in the restaurant and the seabed is going to be in muted tones, and the colors at this level are going to be green and dark blue, taking inspiration from the seaweed, seabed and the rough sea.

8Restaurant-cum-research center

The unique gourmet restaurant will have a menu focusing on the seafood, going by the location obviously! But, they also plan to offer local specialties gathered from the garden and the woods. Under the able-leadership of Head Chef, Nicolai Ellitsgaard, the owners of the restaurant aspire to transform the ingredients within the local and Nordic kitchen to give their guests an unforgettable food experience.
