20,000 Tourists Flock To A Chinese National Park After The Lockdown
Wuhan in China became the epicenter for one of the worst viruses known to man that started the 2020 epidemic known as the coronavirus. Since then the whole country has been in lockdown but that did not prevent the virus from spreading across the globe and infecting over 1 million people. Now after two months of being under lockdown the country has opened up once again.
But, instead of listening to the government and taking precautions, the people have flocked in thousands to public places which has just heightened the risk of another outbreak.
Huangshan National Park in China’s eastern province of Anhui was closed during the coronavirus lockdown back in January. The gates were closed as the park had over 20,000 visitors daily and this would help reduce the spread. The park reopened after the lockdown was lifted with free entry.
2Things went silent under the lockdown
The park, as well as other public places, were closed due to the lockdown which did help to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. The lockdown was for two months and the cities looked like ghost towns. People stayed indoors and were self-quarantined. Now the government has lifted the lockdown but asked people to maintain social distancing.
3Now that the lockdown is lifted
Photos and videos went viral after the lockdown was lifted showing large numbers of people flocking to popular tourist sites and major cities across China over the country’s holiday weekend. This was despite repeated warnings from the government that it is still not safe to gather in public places and not to go in crowds.
420,000 in one place
The most recent viral photos came from the Huangshan mountain park in Anhui province that showed thousands of people crammed together enjoying the outside world. Many of these people were not even wearing masks which was a very bad sign. This was expected after the country spent months under lockdown.
5They reduced the park’s capacity
It was reported that the park reduced the number of visitors it will allow inside after the lockdown. It was reported that the park would normally allow over 50,000 visitors at once but now it has limited the visitors to 20,000 at once. This was done to reduce the number of people that could get in but 20,000 is still a big number.
