1 Boeing 727-223

Boeing 727-223 aircraft was stolen from the Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda, Angola on May 25, 2003. This aircraft was owned by Aerospace Sales &amp Leasing and was given on lease to TAAC Angola Airlines before it disappeared from the earth’s surface. Charles Padilla, a private pilot and his helper, John Mike Mutantu were working with Angolan mechanics to make the aircraft flight-ready.

This aircraft required three trained pilots and when Muntantu and Padilla (both of whom were not certified to fly a Boeing 727) boarded the aircraft, it began taxiing and maneuvering erratically with no communication between the crew and the control tower. The flight and the two crew members have not been seen again.The disappearance of this airplane prompted a worldwide search operation by the CIA and FBI, as it’s first owner was the American Airlines.

2 The Rio-Bound 707 Cargo Plane

A Varig Brazilian Airlines cargo jet mysteriously disappeared from the sky after 30 minutes of takeoff from the Narita International Airport in 1979.

The jet was carrying 153 paintings of Manabu Mabe with a net worth of $ 1 million. After the jet disappeared, nobody has been able to come at a conclusion as to what exactly happened with the flight till date.

3 DC-4 Canadian Pacific Airlines Jet

DC-4 Canadian Pacific Airlines Jet mysteriously vanished on July 21, 1951. This plane was headed to Tokyo from Vancouver and after a 90 minutes stopover in Anchorage it was hit by poor weather. The last thing that anyone heard before its disappearance was the voice of the pilot describing the poor weather conditions.

4 Star Tiger and Star Ariel

Both flights surprisingly disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle. Flight Star Tiger vanished on January 30, 1948, and the flight Star Ariel vanished in 1949 between Bermuda and Kingston. The disappearance of both flights shocked everyone. Interestingly, the mysterious disappearance of the flights helped in developing the Bermuda Triangle Legend.

5 Northwest Airlines Flight 2501

The last that anyone heard before the disappearance of Northwest Airlines Flight 2501 was the voice of the captain, who was asking for a clearance to fly at 2500 feet over Lake Michigan. After that, nobody knows what happened to the flight. The plane carried 58 passengers. Apart from a small amount of human residue, no wreckage was found in the Lake or anywhere else.

6 Avro Lancastrian Star Dust

This flight was headed to Santiago, Chile from Buenos Aires and disappeared in the snowstorm over the Andes Mountains on August 2, 1947. The last thing anybody heard from the flight was the voice of the pilot repeating the Morse Code “STENDEC”. Several years later, a pair of Argentinian Climbers found the residue of the flight. In 2000, more wreckage was found by the Argentinian Army.

7 Flying Tiger Line Flight 739

US military flight named Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 mysteriously disappeared in 1962. This military charter plane was allotted to carry 96 soldiers from Travis Air Force base to Saigon. As per the sources, the flight disappeared after 80 minutes of takeoff from Guam.

The US military searched the flight, but unfortunately nothing was found.

8 Amelia Earhart’s Plane

Amelia Earhart was on a mission to make a journey all around the world through the plane, but, unfortunately, her dream never came true. She and her plane went missing when she and her navigator were flying over the Central Pacific Ocean in 1937. Nothing was found about Amelia and her plane after this terrific accident. But it seems like this matter will be completely resolved in the upcoming years. In a recent discovery, researchers have found something on an uninhabited island in 2014.

9 Flight 19

An aircraft, comprising five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers named Flight 1 mysteriously vanished over the Bermuda Triangle on 5 December 1945. It was not only the plane that disappeared, but also the five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers that disappeared at the same time. Several searches have been done to find the wreckage of the flights, but nothing has been found till date.
