Here is the reason why putting toilet paper on the toilet seat is a bad idea
Many of us have been on road trips or in malls and have gotten an urge to empty either our bladders or the bowels in utmost emergency and the only options you have, is to find the nearest restroom or public toilet and use the toilet in it. Now you must have seen many movies in which the toilet is not only filthy but not even suitable to stand in, but, when you don’t have a choice, you have to make do with what you have in front of you. You use anything you can find, in order to avoid actually touching the toilet seat and most of the times, you use either the toilet seat covers or the toilet paper on the seat. But this can be a very bad idea.
1 The habit of people, putting toilet paper on toilet seat
Most of the people who have used a toilet in a public restroom may have always cared to put lots of toilet paper on the seat of the toilet because of sanitation issues. You may not know how many people have used that toilet and what not have touched the toilet including butts of other people. You even don’t know what you will find behind those doors, a clean (ok, relatively clean) toilet or a toilet in which someone just had a battle with a shark. But most people prefer to keep it safe and consider that the toilet seat contains most of the germs and bacteria and somehow toilet paper will save them from getting the same bacteria on them. But putting toilet paper on toilet seat may turn out to be a very bad idea. Find out the reason on the next page.
2 Why doing so is a bad idea?
Actually, the seats are designed in order to not pick up any bacteria or germs. The curve on the seats and the smooth surface doesn’t let the bacteria stick on the surface, making them safe to sit on without putting paper on it. The one thing that gets the most germs and bacteria on it,is actually the toilet paper. The surface of toilet paper and material is ideal for the germs to stick onto them and it provides a thriving environment for them to fester.
Apart from the toilet paper, the electric hand dryers in the toilet spew the most germs, which get settled in their grills, etc., and from there, onto your clean hands. It is better to use a paper towel to wipe your hands after washing them or use your own wiping cloth instead of using the electric hand dryer to dry your hands.
