1Three nurses test positive

Three nurses who were on the frontline staff at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, London tested positive for the coronavirus and this was all because they were not given the right medical gear to use to save themselves from it. This is not the first time something like this has happened.

2Why did this happen?

This was the result of a shortage of personal protective gear. This is the gear given to doctors and nurses to keep them safe from the coronavirus. Doctors and nurses are exposed to high amounts of the virus while treating their patients which is why they need to wear this protective gear to be safe and not become virus carriers.

3When there is a shortage

There is currently a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) for doctors and nurses due to this pandemic. This is why they have to resort to using things like bin bags as protective gear which is not actually protecting them but something is always better than nothing. This is something that should not happen especially during a pandemic.

4The massive backlash

When the news broke that hospital staff tested positive for the virus there was a major backlash towards the hospital and the lack of protective gear it is providing its doctors and nurses. Many union workers got on the bandwagon and pointed out that if the doctors and nurses were not safe then how can the hospital think of treating their patients.

5Hospitals are under pressure

All the hospitals across the globe are under pressure as they are filled with patients and their doctors and nurses are overworked and stressed. All the beds, protective gear, and ventilators are taken or are in use. This is why there is a shortage of this equipment and the hospital bosses and the government can’t do much to help them.
