This Viral Image Shows You What Really Goes Into Your Favorite Nutella
Who doesn’t like a huge spoonful of Nutella? It is sold in 75 countries worldwide and 250,000 tons of it is consumed each year. Some prefer the regular flavor while some prefer the hazelnut. Either way, Nutella is like a taste of heaven in your mouth. It is so addictive that you would wish they make bigger jars since it’s impossible to stop at one spoonful. Some even love it as a spread on bread. The caramel type chocolate flavor really gets to you. But while you keep digging into that incredible taste of Nutella, have you ever wondered what it is made of? What exactly goes into your jar of Nutella?
1What really goes into your Nutella
Sometime in January this year, a viral image of what goes into a jar of Nutella created an internet sensation. People especially Nutella fans were stunned to find that how little of it consisted of chocolate. Instead, it had other ingredients, some harmful for health. Read on to find out what goes into your jar of Nutella.
2The viral image of Nutella’s ingredients
This new image is shocking, to say the least. It shows what goes into Nutella. Instead of being filled with that hazelnut- chocolate flavor, Nutella is filled with entirely something else. The spread is filled with five layers of which the chocolate spread is just a tiny one. Apart from coca and hazelnut, it contains a good deal of palm oil, next comes a huge quantity of powder sugar and then, of course, powdered skimmed milk.
3Palm oil and an unusually high concentration of sugar
While skimmed milk and hazelnut isn’t much of a health concern here, the huge quantity of sugar definitely is. The palm oil too is dangerous for health. The image caught the company on the back foot and it seems they were all in a quandary how to make amends. The layers are an accurate representation of each ingredient where half is just sugar.
4Not good for health as the image shows
The image of what goes into your jar of Nutella went viral in January and was circulated on all social platforms. On Reddit alone, it received 28,700 votes. Shocked? That you’ve been mostly eating palm oil filled with sugar with a compensatory flavor of chocolate to keep you fooled into thinking Nutella is somewhat good for health too because of the chocolate?
