3Season 4 Episode 5 “Metalhead”
In this episode, we see a post-apocalyptic world, where the human civilization has been wiped out. Those who have survived somehow won’t live for long because they are being hunted by robot dogs who scavenge any human survivors. In the episode, we see the desperate attempts of a woman trying to escape the deadly robot dogs.
In 2005, a company called Boston Dynamics created a military robot called ‘BigDog’. This robot was to accompany soldiers in rough terrain where vehicles would get trapped. The robot walked on all fours and had inbuilt sensors, just as in the episode. The project was discontinued after the dogs were declared too noisy to be in combat, though the company is now working on a mini version.
4Season 4 Episode 2 “Arkangel”
In this episode, an overprotective single mother uses a chip to keep a close eye on her only daughter. The service “Arkangel” implants a chip in the child’s brain. The mother will be able to see whatever the daughter is seeing and din. She will be aware of her location as well. She does not inform her child about this and does not remove the chip even when she becomes a teenager. As a result, she can see everything her daughter is doing. This violation of privacy is not handled well by the daughter and their lives fall apart.
We understand that parents worry for their children, but it must not be taken to an extreme level. Many apps are now allowing parents to keep tabs on where their kids are going, what they are watching online and how they spend their time. 5Season 3 Episode 3 “Shut Up and Dance”
This was one of the scariest episodes. Hackers access the cameras on computers and record private moments and dirty secrets. They later use this as leverage to blackmail people into committing heinous crimes. But even after doing all this, the victims are exposed before their family and friends, potentially ending their lives.
Someone we know has been a victim of cyberbullying or hacking. Put them together and you have this episode. Hackers are now advanced to a level where they can access any private information they want. They have access to phones, computers, bank accounts, and all our private information. Add cyberbullying to this, and what emerges are a group of people so powerful, they can do anything they want, with no possibility of stopping them.
