She has been the spouse of one of the world’s richest men, Bill Gates but that is not all she is. They have been together since 1994 and together they run the world’s largest private charitable organization called the ‘Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’ that was started in 2000. Melinda is the one who really runs the foundation. She is also the general manager at Microsoft and has been ranked as one of the world’s most powerful women by Forbes.
Since the start of this year in January, she has been the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. She was elected in 1987 and she still is the only woman to have served as Speaker and holds the title of the highest-ranking elected woman in United States history. This makes her the perfect role model for young girls who want to join politics.

She was a lawyer before she served as the junior United States Senator from California since 2017. Prior to this, she was the 32nd Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017. She is the member of the Democratic Party and on January 21st, 2019, she announced that she was planning to run for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2020 United States presidential election.
She was one of the survivors of the horrific February 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. She is now an activist and advocates for a gun control group called ‘Never Again MSD’. Her speech called “We call B.S” went viral and made her an outspoken activist on gun control.
She is a Japanese organizing consultant and author who has published four books on organizing that have sold millions of copies. Her books have been translated into many languages and published in over 30 countries. Time magazine named her “100 most influential people” in the year 2015. She has been named as a role model for Japanese girls.
