There is a town in America, where Christmas never ends!
Christmas is an occasion where everyone celebrates the birth of Jesus and spread joy amongst each other. People decorate their homes with colourful lighting and also have a Christmas tree in their homes to decorate it with lights, bells, ornaments etc.
Kids get to write their wishes to Santa Claus and Santa fulfils them, if the kids have been good for the year. Overall, it is a joyous and happy time for everyone. But one town in the US takes celebrating the Christmas to a whole new different level of joy and happiness.
Read on to find out the town and the festivities in which it is immersed.
1 The special town
The town is unwittingly known as Santa Claus and is in the state of Indiana, United States of America. The town was established in 1854 and was named as Santa Fe, but had to change their town’s name when their request for a post office was denied due to there being a town with the same name.
The residents chose the new name of Santa Claus and since the last 100+ years, they have been doing justice to their name by specially celebrating Christmas all around the year. Every road and street in the town has been named with the theme of Christmas in mind.
2 Why the town is famous?
The town is famous for being ‘the town where Christmas never ends’. The town celebrates Christmas all year round with the houses, establishments and offices being decorated under Christmas theme in a sort of permanent fashion.
Even the streets have name such as Reindeer circle, Prancer Drive, Ornament East and Rudolph Lane. The businesses have kept their name Christmassy with the town having a Santa’s candy castle, where tourists can satisfy their sweet tooth and have a cup of coffee. Or you can visit Frosty’s Fun Center to grab some dinner for yourself.
3 The Christmas never ends here!
They have houses decorated with Christmas lights and other similar decorations from December to December every year and have a village by the name of Christmas Lake Village.
Large Santa Claus statues adorn the whole town and the folks seemingly carry the spirit of Christmas all year long with them. Not only that, they have managed to keep up their town’s name of Santa Claus up. You see, for the last 100 years, the town folks have been answering each and every letter addressed to Santa Claus, in this case, their town from every child ever.
This work is done by a group of volunteers, who reply to thousands of letter that they receive from around the globe since 1914.
4 Town folks write back to kids!
The town folks and group of volunteers who call themselves as Santa’s Elves sit and open and read through every letter addressed to Santa Claus. They work from morning 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and every letter is opened, read and replied back.
These letters are filled with children requesting their favorite stuff from Santa Claus for Christmas. Director of the volunteer group Ms Thompson says that, “We are a non-profit and all of our elves are volunteers so it’s quite the undertaking. The letters do arrive all year round, though the volume really picks up in November and of course, December.”
They expect to receive more than 15,000 letters this year.
