1 The real life fault in our stars couple

Known worldwide as the Fault in our stars couple, Katie and Dalton Prager’s love story is what movies and books are made of but with a sad ending. Both Husband and wife succumbed to cystic fibrosis a deadly disease plaguing almost 3000 Americans even as I speak.

Katie lived just three days longer than her husband. She expired on Sept 22nd and her death though sad for many may have been rewarding for her as described by her mother “I truly believe Dalton had prepared a place for his wife”. She went on to state that had their story been made into a book, it would have ended with the words “And they lived happily ever after, in each other’s arms for eternity.”

2 For Katie, there are no regrets

When Dalton passed away on September 17, Katie was not with him because she was too ill herself in hospice at her home in Flemingsburg Kentucky. The last time they saw each other was in July on their fifth wedding anniversary.

However they were allowed to FaceTime, communicating through their iOS devices. Katie stated that not for a moment did she regret her relationship with Dalton despite doctors warning her not to do so for fear of catching an infection.

In her own words” I’d rather have five years of being in love and just really completely happy than 20 years of not having anybody.”

6 Dalton was waiting with open arms….

Katie Prager passed away peacefully on the morning of Sept 22 five days after Dalton. As per her wishes she was at home when she died surrounded by her family including her father, mother, brother and her pet dogs. ‘I know Dalton was waiting with open arms” said her mom.

The cause of death for both husband and wife was attributed to complications developed form cystic fibrosis. In Katie’s case, her lung transplant also had caused problems. Somehow Katie knew it was her last Saturday at home but she wasn’t afraid because she felt that Dalton had “given her the strength, knowing it would be her last outing”.
