A night of tricks and treats Halloween has been a well-known tradition in many cultures and families for years. However, the often festive night also has its share of twisted tales of fate. The unfortunate victims in each of these stories had their lives cut shortly by the twisted demeanor of their attackers.
1 Father And Son Team Charged in Halloween Murder
For 18-year-old Taylor Van Diest Halloween was to be a fun night with her friends. Unfortunately, the young girl never made it to their house. Her last text message to one of her friends was that she felt creepy and that someone was following her. The victim was beaten severely and died several hours later after being rushed to the hospital.26-year-old Matthew Foerster admitted to violently attacking the girl a month after her death through a videotaped confession. His father Steven Foerster 58 was charged as an accessory to the crime.
2 Kennedy Nephew Arrested for Murder of a Local Connecticut Girl
Martha Moxley had a night of pranks and tricks planned on mischief night in the year 1975. Unfortunately for Moxley her night of fun and jokes were cut early when she decided to pay a visit to the Shakel residence. Michael and Tommy Shakel the nephews to Ethel Shakel-Kennedy the widow of late Senator John F. Kennedy was noted for their mischievous behavior in the neighborhood. The following day Martha Moxley’s corpse was discovered under her backyard tree. She sustained injuries after being beaten and stabbed with a six iron club. Years later Michael Shakel turned himself in and admitted to the murder of Martha Moxley.
3 Halloween Murder Changes A Wisconsin Town Forever
Nine-year-old Lisa French never returned from Trick or Treating on October 31, 1975. Her naked body was found in a field in a plastic bag. Neighbor Gerald Turner eventually admitted to committing the horrendous act. Since this tragic event the town of Fond du Luc celebrate Halloween entirely different. It is traditionally celebrated in the town during the daylight hours from 3:30-5:30 PM the Sunday before the holiday.
4 Good Samaritan Killed During Halloween Robbery
30-year-old Alejandro Sanchez Torres, who had just reunited with his seven-year-old son, was brutally murdered by three young men when he tried to stop them from beating a man whom they were robbing. Torres reached for his son’s bat to stop the attackers who had then turned on him and savagely murdered the unfortunate victim. The three attackers were charged with murder, attempted murder and other crimes associated with the attack. Each of the attackers faces a maximum life sentence with no possibility of parole.
5 Car Photographer Murdered by a Career Criminal
Teresa Halbach never returned from her photograph shoot of a vehicle at a local salvage yard. Several Days later after not showing up police found Halbach’s car under a brush. The gentlemen she was going to see Steven Avery the salvage yard owner was charged with first-degree murder and mutilating a corpse. Steven Avery’s previous criminal history for burglary assisted officers in napping the criminal for the crime. Avery’s nephew 16-year-old Brendan Dassey was also charged. The charges posed against the youngster included first-degreemurder, sexual assault and mutilation of a corpse.
