12 Italy

Italy starts this list with a power Index rating of 0.2694 and total military personnel of 267,500. A defense budget of $37 billion and total aircraft strength of 822. They have 79 Fighter aircraft and 200 combat tanks. Not very impressive but still enough to make this list.

11South Korea

North Korea keeps intimidating South Korea but when it comes to their armies, the South is way ahead of the North. On the power Index rating, they rate 0.2741 with a defense budget of $43.8 billion. The total army personnel amount to 5,829,750 and their firepower, in a nutshell, consists of roughly 1,477 aircraft among which there are 406 fighter aircraft Combat tanks: 2,654 and total naval assets of 166 (one aircraft carrier).

10Egypt

It is surprising to find Egypt on this list but they have a small defense budget of $4.4 billion but they have a sizeable force of 1,329,250 which is quite a lot. Egypt has a power Index rating of 0.2676 with total aircraft strength of 1,132 and 337 fighter aircraft, 4110 combat tanks and 319 naval assets that include two aircraft carriers.

9 German Army

Germany is on top with these nations in contrast to what anyone would think. They have had problems with their military infrastructure in the past few years dropping them down to a power index of 0.2609 that includes a military strength of 210,000, total aircraft of just 698, fighter aircraft 92, combat tanks 543 and naval assets of 81. Their defense budget is $39.2 billion.
