Have you seen this unbelievable image of a woman sent from Mars?
We really might not be alone in this universe. There are many supposed evidences in the world that say that there is alien life on this earth. There have been sightings of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) and USOs (Unidentified submerged objects) all over the world. Also some people saw a crab crawling on the surface of Mars in a photo sent by the Mars Curiosity Rover.
If you really believe in UFOs and alien lives, there is an image sent by the Mars rover recently may excite you to no ends.
1 The image sent by Mars Rover
The above image was sent by the Mars Curiosity rover to the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. And the image immediately set the internet abuzz and the people who support the alien life form, dubbed the image as “Dark Lady”.
The image apparently shows a woman like figure with long, flowing hair and dress with a low neckline. “I have to admit, it looks like a woman partly cloaked,” said poster Scott C. Waring. “It’s hard to tell if this is a living being, or a statue of a being from long ago. However, a statue that small would be eroded and destroyed easily, so it has a higher chance of being a living being.”
2 NASA’s reply to the image
NASA’s head of public relations Guy Webster stated that he wasn’t familiar with any Martian woman discovered by its Curiosity rover. He did say that he fields such questions on a daily basis.
“It’s really easy to pick out rocks or other things that look like something else in pictures like this,” he said. Webster even said that a JPL scientist was asked to analyze the photo to see what might actually explain the feminine figure.
3 The Mars Curiosity Rover
The Curiosity Rover is a car sized rover exploring Gale crater on planet Mars. It was launched in 2011 and landed on Mars in 2012.
The rover’s goals include investigating Martian climate and geology; assessment of whether the selected field site inside Gale Crater has ever offered environmental conditions favorable for microbial life. Other objectives include investigation of the role of water; and planetary habitability studies in preparation for future human exploration.
4 Other explanations for the “Dark Lady” image
Dr. Seth Shostak who is a senior astronomer and director of the Center for SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial intelligence) Research, thinks that it’s all in the eyes or, brain, of the beholder.
“The fact that so many people are adept at playing ‘Where’s Waldo?’ with rover photos is a testament to our brain’s ability to pick out creatures in the visual landscape,” Shostak said while being interviewed by a tabloid. He further added, “It’s a talent that helped our ancestors avoid predators or catch prey, but it’s a poor strategy in the hunt for extra-terrestrial life.”
As said, he might be true. The atmosphere on Mars is conducive for our eyes to see what is not even present. The illusion of something being there despite not being there is called Pareidolia.
5 Other examples of Pareidolia
Another famous example of image that caused another wide spread rumor was found on the surface of the planet Mars is the famous “Face on the moon”.
In 1976, the Viking 1 spacecraft of NASA sent down some images on the surface of moon that resembled a human face. An enormous head nearly two miles from end to end seemed to be staring back at the cameras from a region of the Red Planet called Cydonia.
In 2001, an image from the Mars Global Surveyor sent down the correct and high definition image of the so called face on Mars, which debunked the whole myth of face on Mars.
This means that this Dark Lady on the Red planet may be a thing of similar illusion. But there is also a chance that it may be something that proves alien life forms.
