Scientists Confirm World’s First Ever Photos of a Leucistic White Puma
Cats are some of the world’s most lovable animals. Big cats on the other hand are some of the most fascinating animals in the world. But, it gets even better, when you discover the existence of a rare type of big cat. What types of big cats, you ask? These happen to be rare white colored big cats and one such rare big cat happens to be a leucistic Puma.

Four photos of a leucistic wild cougar were captured back in 2013. The photos were later confirmed to be legit and this happened to be the sighting of the world’s first-ever confirmed white puma. Sightings of white leucistic animals in the wild are extremely rare.
9A trap camera captured these photos in the jungles of Brazil
These four photos of the cougar with leucism were captured by a trap camera in 2013. The pictures were taken in Serra dos Órgãos National Park which is located in southeastern Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. But, recently they resurfaced on the interwebs once again. As it turns out, scientists confirmed that these pictures were not fake,and this was the world’s first-ever confirmed case of a wild cougar with leucism.

A 2018 study confirmed that these pictures did indeed capture the first-ever seen case of the leucistic big cat. National Geographic has stated that Genetic color aberrations like albinism and leucism are generally common among big wild cats. However, the sightings of these white cats are still pretty rare.
