Scientists Can Read Your Mind and Find Out What Decision You Will Make Even Before You Make A Choice
We have to make a lot of decisions in life, while some of them are taken easily; some are taken after a lot of thinking and weighing different options. In some of the cases, a person is not able to arrive at a decision until the last moment but the scientists have come up with a way to find out what a person will decide, even before he himself is able to take the last call. Sounds difficult to believe but it is true and today we will let you know about it in detail so that you can have a better understanding of yourself.
1The concept is not new
This is not the first time, people have thought about the concept of finding out what a particular person to going to decide, even before he makes a decision. Well, if you remember the movie, Tom Cruise
2However, it’s a little different in this case
What we are talking about is based on the findings of a study which you can read in Scientific Reports. We all think that our brain is engaged in the task which we are tackling and we feel that we know at which level our brain is working but in reality, the brain works a little ahead than what we are aware of.
The experiment was pretty simple as the participants were asked to choose between the two patterns (vertical or horizontal) while the fMRI machine was used to keep an eye on the brain activity while the participants were shown the images. The patterns of brain activity were being matched with the choices that the participants were making.
4During the experiment
The candidates were needed to press a button whenever they were ready to see an image and then they had to press a button to tell which image influenced them more. The researchers were keeping a check in order to ensure that the participant is not making a delay in pressing the button, intentionally.
Here comes the interesting part, the manner in which the brain worked or acted was letting the researchers recognize the choices that the participant will make even before he was asked to choose or make a decision. This is quite surprising as this means that our brain is far ahead than we know or presume.
