1 Main story
The Chinese noodle factory “Tongcheng Rice” has been recently banned by the Dongguan Food and Drug Administration agency after pictures surfaced showing workers sleeping, stomping, and stepping on piles of noodles that will eventually be sold.
The pictures show the workers standing on piles of noodles as they work in an assembly line to prepare the food for packaging and distribution. The photographs also show that the factory keeps the noodles under unsanitary conditions. The factory did not even take any step towards basic hygiene concerns as the workers sleep, stomp, and step over the piles of noodles with their bare feet.
According to a Daily Mail report, the factory’s products are consumed all around China and the United States and this was not the first time that the factory was caught on breaking basic hygiene rules as it was also caught last year.
2 What does the director of the factory said about the incident?
According to the director of the company, the pictures were taken during the night shift last February. He also added that he allowed their staff to wear whatever clothing they wanted out of sympathy for heavy workloads during that time. He also claimed that the workers shown on the photos are no longer employed at the factory as he had made several changes in hygiene policies in the past few months.
3 What steps were taken by the Food and Drug Administration?
The Dongguan’s Food and Drug Administration has ordered to close down the factory and the owner could be subjected to fine or even be sentenced to jail for the violation of food hygiene for the second time. The factory staff will also undergo health checks.
4 The Final conclusion
This news surprised everyone. Now people are looking for a reasonable explanation for the violation of basic food hygiene. After this, we can only hope that the noodles we are going to eat or prepare are not products of this factory.
