Here is the reason why our tears are salty
Tears if you have tasted and most probably you have are always salty, why?? Many of us have cried at least once in our lifetime and cried we did enough to taste our salty tears however what exactly is it? What makes tears salty?
1 We have cried Tears of Joy!
Tears of joy may be happy ones but they are tears too. True happiness is when our emotions are spent to the point of tears. It is a condition of being overwhelmed by the emotions of that given moment.

2 When we cry tears of sadness
Profound sadness can make any human cry. Although we should never sink into the quagmire of our own sorrows, it doesn’t hurt to cry because experts feel that it is a strong person who doesn’t feel afraid to cry.

3 Crocodile tears
And then there are crocodile tears when some people cry for no rhyme or reason, even a small negative incident just gets them started off.

4 But we cry even when we aren’t sad or happy
Because that happens when we cut onions. The vapors emitted from onions make our eyes burn and hence tears roll out in fact they gush out.

5 The reason for tears
Research states that at any given moment there is at least one cup of salt existing within the human body. This is why when we cry or sweat, the taste is salty, that is also why tears are salty. All our bodily secretions contain salts.

Without tears our eyes would be always dry and that could result in impaired or total loss of eyesight. There are three kinds of tears psychic, basal and reflex. Basal tears are those that wet and moisten our eyes.

Reflex tears are results of a reflex action and response to when the eyes are irritated. These are natural tears devoid of emotions. Reflex tears can be defines as the eyes response to environmental stimuli.

These are the tears you shed when sad or suffering negative emotions such as pain, anger, sorrow or mourning the loss of a loved one. Psychic tears are tears of physical pain.

9 All our bodily secretions contain salt
All bodily secretions like sweat, urine, saliva and tears contain salt. They don’t sting because of the low saline content. Such salts area combination of sodium and potassium mixed with a high content of water. The salt present in cells pull water through the process of osmosis. That is why tears are salty.
Tears also contain inorganic and organic chemicals such as Lysozyme, lipids, mucin, lactoferrin and several enzymes. However if you shed tears, shed them for the right reasons and never waste them as your emotions are precious. Stay happy.
