Shot For Shot Comparison Of The Real Life Events Of Chernobyl Vs The HBO Miniseries

13All the innocent workers

Throughout the show, we lose count as to how many innocent employees lose their lives because of the pathetic cowardice and lack of knowledge of a few people on the top. These workers could only react with shock or surprise because they had no idea what was going on. The picture shows that the show captured reality well.

14The flag of victory

We still don’t know why they hoisted the flag atop the reactor building. Perhaps it was to show the world that the Soviets had conquered the situation that they had caused. This was by no means a victory. The carelessness and lack of knowledge of essentially three men had caused the death of thousands and the doom of millions.

15The villains

It is absolutely eerie how similar these three look to their real-life counterparts. These are three who were responsible for the disaster at Chernobyl. It was mainly Anatoly Dyatlov (in the center) who was responsible. The other two, Fomin and Burkhanov, were just covering up his mistakes and failed to take action at the right time. The casting is on point.

16The heroes of this unfortunate incident

The two heroes of the show were Valery Legasov and Boris Scherbina. They started by being wary of each other but in just five episodes, they had us rooting for them. They knew they were going to die but kept working to contain the damage anyway. They saw to it that some semblance of punishment was received by Dyatlov. Needless to say, the casting is excellent once again.
