Shot For Shot Comparison Of The Real Life Events Of Chernobyl Vs The HBO Miniseries
Everyone knows the story of Chernobyl as it is still the worst man-made disaster in human history. On 26 April 1986, the No. 4 nuclear reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded and caused the deaths of thousands of people living in the surrounding areas as well as the firemen and rescue authorizes who were sent there to help.
Many have tried to bring the events of Chernobyl to the big screen by no one has ever come close to recreating the events in such a brilliant manner like the writers and producers of HBO. The show takes you through the events as they happened with such impeccable writing that you cannot wait for the next episode.
1The Control room
This was essentially where it all started. This was the place where bad decisions were made. This is where common sense failed to prevail over a selfish man and doomed millions. This is where Chernobyl became the radioactive disaster it is known is today. As we can see, the show recreated it pretty well.
2The water jets
After the disaster, water jets and sprays were used to wash down the radiation from the surface of the streets. For this purpose, cars were used on broad and long roads and people in small alleys. The picture on the left shows the depiction in the show and the picture on the right shows the reality.
3The Thumbnail Picture
The poster or picture on the left shows a man in full protective gear washing down the street to try and remove the radiation. The picture on the right is a real person doing the same job. What is weird is that the man in the real picture is wearing way less protection than the man in the show.
4The hard workers
This scene was somewhere around the part where the tunnel is being dug by the coal mine workers. The two pictures are eerily similar and that just shows the dedication to detail that the makers of the show had. This is not a monumental scene but watching the similarity is eerie.
