2 Special Arrangements for the special task!

The delivery was no easy task and obviously the 30-minute delivery guarantee had to be forgotten here. In totality, the pizza took 4 days to reach to the top. The pepperoni pie extra cheese pizza was made in the newly opened restaurant of Dar es Salaam and then the journey started as it was first flown in to the Kilimanjaro International Airport. A car, then took it to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park and from here, five professional guides took the pizza to the base camp, which is located at a height of 16,000ft. Here they were joined by Blackford and two other employees and then started the final ascent to the highest mountain of Africa.

Now, you must be wondering how the pizza could be fresh and hot even after four days?! Well, for that, a special backpack was made which had a battery-operated heater so that the pizza could stay warm. And indeed it was warm, when the box was finally opened at the top. But, it turned cold very quickly as the temperature was nearly 20 degrees. Still, the feeling of having a warm pizza at the top of a mountain was shared by Blackford when he said that nothing tastes as good as a pizza after hiking for six hours in the middle of the night. The team had hiked whole night and with the sunrise, they had their moment of glory of having set the record.
