New Study Reveals That Boys Are The Ones Who Need More Emotional Support
Boys and girls are different. Science is every day finding new differences between the two sexes and this affects the way we raise them. With boys, we are more carefree. They fall, get hurt, they just pick themselves up and move on. When it comes to emotional support we focus it more on the female children. But, science has been saying this is wrong for years but no one paid attention.
There are many disadvantages of raising boys with no emotional support from their parents and this more often than not results in them having a very negative mindset or doing wrong things later in life.
1Who needs more attention?
Children in general regardless of their gender need emotional support. For years there has been this idea that girls need more support than boys but the truth of the matter according to recent studies, is boys who need emotional support more than girls. This wasn’t just one recent study but a collection of research done since 2000.
2But girls are the emotional ones
This is the answer most people give when asked which gender needs more emotional support. This is however not true as the studies have shown. According to studies done and research, scientists have figured out that the male brain matures slower than the female counterpart. This has huge implications on humans when they are children and even when they grow up.
3Boys’ brains are fragile
There was a study done in 2000 that was called “The Fragile Male” by Sebastian Kraemer in which he stated that the male baby brain is way more fragile than the female counterpart. This is not just after birth. This occurs during the development of the child in the womb.
4The male brain lags behind by six weeks
According to the research and studies done by doctors, it has been proven that men’s brains develop slower than women with exceptional cases when the opposite happens. It also has been proven that men’s brains diminish faster than women’s. This is not consistent as there have been numerous cases when both gender’s brains develop and diminish at the same speed.
5How does this affect boys?
This slow development makes young boys prone to depression and stress. Girls develop much faster and show their full range of emotional understanding at a young age and are encouraged to show it by their parents. This is not the same for boys. The way we raise boys also has implications on the way they grow.
