NASA Just Released Over 2000 Images of Mars and Some of Them Are Absolutely Stunning
11Selfie by Curiosity
This was a selfie taken by NASA’s Curiosity rover on January 15 at the Rock Hall drilling site on the Vera Rubin Ridge. This was the 19th drilling site of the rover where the drill hole can be seen to the rover’s lower left.
This is a complex crater on Mars almost 44 km in diameter. It consists of bedrock all across the crater with varying depths in the crust. There are also large fragments fo green colored bedrock that scientists feel originated beneath the surface. It is the terraces and stunning green and light-toned bedrock that is the show stealer.
13Geological history on Mars
This is an enhanced color image of layers of bedrock formed over time below the top giant Valle Marineris canyons. The diversity in the color and topography reveal complex processes that take place in the canyons formed by volcanic activity and water bombardment.
Here are more zebra patterns created by dune fields speckled with oval shaped alluvial mineral deposits. After seeing these images, your concept of Mars will truly change because till now we only thought of it as a non-decrepit red dusty planet.
