Man Designs Awesome “Off the Road Wheelchair” For Handicapped Wife to Travel Again and Now It’s In Mass Production
Cambry who has been paralyzed throughout her life has only been able to get around in a wheelchair. Most of her adult life was restricted to the pavement which is why her then-boyfriend Zack Nelson decided to try to help her go more places. He went on to design and create an “off-road wheelchair” for her to get to more places which were quite far away. This creation of his, now called ‘not-a-wheelchair’ has gone up for mass-production.
1This off-road wheelchair is ‘not-a-wheelchair’ is super quiet and fully electric
Zack who was Cambry’s boyfriend at the time wanted to help his girlfriend to be able to get to more places with ease. This made him think of an idea of splicing together 2 electric bikes with a seat in the center. He worked on it and finally created a wonderful off-road wheelchair which happens to be fully electric and quiet. This product is called ‘not-a-wheelchair’ and has proved to be amazing.
2The bike allows Cambry to travel further than she ever could on her own
Cambry expressed how she now was able to experience a whole new level of freedom with her newly customized wheelchair created by her boyfriend. She could now overcome any obstacles which might have been rather difficult earlier and could even go miles without her shoulders getting sore. The bike has a range of 10-20 miles with a single battery and 25-35 miles with 2 batteries. However, this also depends on the terrain, the rider’s weight, and the weight of the cargo. It has a speed of 12 mph.
3The bike is up for mass-production by the newly married couple
A year later, Cambry and Zack who are now married, have begun mass-production of their invention which they call ‘Not-a-wheelchair’. In this 1 year’s time the couple worked on the original design, making it a reliable off-roader. They wanted to provide something which was capable and affordable for people like Cambry who have been restricted because of their disability.
4The couple wanted to provide people with a better version of off-road wheelchairs
People have a few options when it comes to choosing an adaptive off-roader but they cost as much as a car or are extremely slow. The couple wanted to find a solution to this which is why they decided to build something that would be light, quick, and which covered a long-range. But, getting it done wasn’t easy at all.
