Lost Purse Found In School Acts As A Time Capsule To The 1950s
11A glimpse into her life
The purse contained various pamphlets and tickets form that era. This was an incredible find as everything was in great condition and could be read easily. This was displayed in the school for all to see what life was like back then. It’s like a portal that shows you how our parents lived before technology.
The school even put out her obituary to celebrate her life in the school. She was born on Feb 25th, 1942 in DuBois and she was the daughter of Charles and Rose Rumfola. She married in 1980 and was a school teacher in Annapolis Middle School for years. She had five children with her husband who sadly passed away in 2007.
13There were membership cards
The purse was even filled with many membership cards that Patti had acquired over the years. All of them look like they were just a few years old instead of being 60 years old which they were. We’re not sure how the ink was preserved so well after all these years. There must have been zero moisture in the purse.
14There were coins
These were the coins that were found in her purse which her children decided to divide among themselves and keep as memorabilia to remember her by. These coins were corroded and didn’t look like much. They wanted the school and everyone else to be able to see everything else that was present in the purse.
15A time gone but not forgotten
Everything that was present in her purse is now up for display at the school as well as online. This is a glimpse into a simpler time that existed 60 years ago when our parents were in school. It was a much more active time back then before technology took over and glued us to our phones.
