Keanu Reeves is a Hollywood actor who has graced the silver screen since 1986. His career started out slow until the unexpected success of the 1989 comedy, ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’. This along with its sequel is what made Keanu Reeves a household name.
After this, he appeared in many big-budget action movies and gained the title as a bankable action star. Starting with the 1991 action movie, ‘Point Break’, Keanu started his venture into action-oriented films. He started in the 1994 action blockbuster ‘Speed’, which gained him more attention by the general audience as well as Hollywood higher-ups.

Keanu was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to parents Patricia and Samuel on 2nd September 1964. His father was of Chinese Native Hawaiian and Portuguese ancestry, so he was exposed to the art and culture of these groups as a child. His mother is an English woman from Essex. She is a costume designer and performer.
His father was arrested while selling heroin at the Hilo International Airport in Hawaii. While in prison, he completed his General Educational Development (GED) degree. After being released, he abandoned Patricia when Keanu was only 3 years old.
Keanu and his mother moved around the world. His mother got married several times and he lived with several stepfathers. His mother worked as a costume designer and they lived in Sydney, New York City and Toronto. His mother married thrice and all the marriages ended in divorce, leading Keanu to change schools various times.
Keanu was dyslexic and as a result, faced problems in school. He was more focused on sports than on academics. He became a successful ice hockey goalie at one of his schools and even earned the nickname of “The Wall.” He even wanted to play ice hockey for Canada, but an injury ended his dreams of becoming a player. He eventually dropped out of high school without a diploma.

At age 9, he appeared in a theatre production of the ‘Damn Yankees’. At 15, he played the role of Mercutio in Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Leah Posluns Theatre. He moved to LA and made his acting debut by appearing in an episode of ‘Hangin’ In’. In the‘80s he appeared in various commercials including ones for Coca-Cola. He appeared as a correspondent for ‘Going Great’, a youth program of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
