Johnson and Johnson Recalls 33,0000 Bottles of Baby Powder After Testing Positive for Cancer Causing Asbestos
9J&J have spent billions fighting lawsuits
Johnson and Johnson have already incurred expenses amounting to billions of dollars because of the lawsuits. The news about the contaminated sample by the FDA found 0.00002% asbestos which is less than a trace but still, in spite of that that, the fact remains that it is a carcinogenic substance which has no place as an ingredient in a baby product. Neither should it be contained in a product to expose people to the risk of cancer.
10Company says rigorous methods of testing are already in place
Johnson and Johnson say they have rigorous standards of testing firmly in place and this was a move to ensure their cosmetic talc was completely safe. Moreover, it claimed those years of testing including testing done by the FDA on various occasions has found no traces of asbestos.
11J & J says the bottle that was tested could have been fake
The bottle that was found to be containing the trace of asbestos was purchased online and the company now says they are making their own investigation if the test could have actually been a false positive. Also, the bottle could have been contaminated or the product itself may have been a fake one. Given the benefit of the doubt is unlikely because the issues of asbestos in baby powder and talc are a long drawn one that has gripped the company over the years and that shouldn’t be so.
