Just as her husband decides to pull the plug on her Life Support, a miracle happens
What happens when a family member is on life support and doctors give up hope? Do you pull the plug? A mammoth decision like that isn’t easy, It becomes every family’s worst nightmare to be torn between the love for a father or mother and the physical suffering that may inevitably end in death.
This is the kind of situation Steven Pelletiere was confronted with one day when his unconscious mother Lyndee who had been in coma for 12 days till doctors gave up hope. However what happens when Lyndee’s husband pulls the plug on his dying wife is no less a miracle.
1 Unconscious for 12 days and then family makes a heartbreaking decision
Lyndee had fallen unconscious for 12 days. Doctors giving up hope advised the family to pull the plug although such a decision is never embraced by any family, it was necessary to honor Lyndee’s wishes as an organ donor. Together Lyndee’s daughter, son Steven and husband decided to take her off life support. When it was time, each of them prepared to wish their mother goodbye as they began preparing themselves for the heartbreaking moment. What they could never comprehend was that Lyndee was aware of it all.
Lyndee somehow was aware of the doctors recommending the family to take her off life support, she was aware of the preparations made. She was aware as each of them wished her goodbye. However when it was her husband’s turn he couldn’t stop whispering, “I need you to fight,” he said. “I need you to fight.”
2 Hope and strength from her husband’s words
Lyndee was unable to move or respond, she couldn’t speak but her husband’s words triggered something within her. Just as her husband pulls the plug, Lyndee spoke much to the shock of her husband. Lyndee simply said “I’m a fighter” That simply blew away her entire family. They had just said goodbye to their mother and then she actually spoke. It was a miracle!! She was alive and a fighter too.
Thereafter Lyndee made a speedy recovery and has lived to tell her tale about how her husband’s words brought her back to life. Lyndee said “Just because you are not conscious does not mean you cannot hear,” “So you should talk to your loved ones if you are in that situation. They hear you.” Today Lyndee is hale and hearty after a full recovery from what almost ripped her away from her family.
The family urge others not to give up so easily on loved ones in coma because it is highly possible that they could hear you. Her Husband pulls the plus he never thought he would be given the beautiful gift of seeing her alive again. It was truly a miracle.
