1 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner
Mexico – $600 Million
President Enrique Pena Nieto’s Dreamliner is crowned as the world’s most expensive plane and also every aviation enthusiast’s dream plane. This Dreamliner easily outbids the world-famous Air Force One in both cost and performance; it can hold up to 250 passengers and fly 10,000 miles straight, sans refuelling!
This dream of a plane can soar through the skies at 1,000mph, which means it can make a trip from Los Angeles to Tokyo without stopping. As if the whooping $600 million price tag wasn’t sufficient, the plane will cost a further $100,000 for maintenance per year even before it has taken off!
Naturally, the people of Mexico aren’t very enthusiastic with the arrival of the Dreamliner and have started a petition to halt its arrival. Keeping the messy economic situation regarding the Dreamliner aside, we cannot deny the charms of this beautiful specimen.
2 Air Force One (Boeing VC-25) – USA – $325 Million
Although, any US aircraft carrying the President can be called as Air Force One, it is commonly associated with his private plane, the Boeing VC-25 (at present).
The VC-25 is very impressive, and President Obama’s love for it has made it all the more famous. Obama enjoys his time on the plane and takes it around the skies pretty often. He was even scrutinized for spending over $7 million on just three trips.
The interiors fit the bill perfectly for a president as the décor is professional and sophisticated. The speed is amazing with a range of 7,800 miles, and it can encompass just over 100 passengers, holding a capacity of over 53,000 gallons of fuel. And yes, it can even survive a nuclear explosion!
3 Boeing 767- Zimbabwe, $400 Million
The plane which takes President Mugabe to his tours, may be a controversial one as Zimbabwe does not even come in the list of Africa’s Top 10 Richest Countries, but the plane still costs a whopping $400 million. Nevertheless, it is a fine piece of equipment and the exterior of the plane amazingly shows the national flag’s pattern. The plane performs as is expected out of a Boeing and flies at the cruise speed of 858km/h, which no doubt is quite competitive for Africa.
4 Boeing 777-300ER – Bangladesh, $260 Million
Don’t be surprised; you may not associate Bangladesh with extravagant and luxurious amenities, but when it is a Boeing 777-300ER, it is totally worth the money. This twin jet broke flying records by making it to the headlines in 2014. It features seating for both business and economy classes; it also joined the exclusive Biman Bangladesh Airlines fleet in the year 2011. The aircraft features a General Electric twin engine making it one of the top-performing planes. It saves power and discharges 22% lesser carbon di-oxide than its contemporaries and can fly uninterrupted through several European terminals.
5 Airbus A330-200 – France – $240 Million
This Tres Chique Airbus has a wide range of amenities that would suit any political head. The private suite has a shower for the president’s comfort. Monsieur Francois Hollande can continue his business even on the aircraft as the plane has internet access that spreads over 10,000 metres above ground. The Airbus also boasts of a conference room for around 60 VIPs. Tres magnifique!
