Mother delivers world heaviest baby, breaks Guinness record
Move over baby Carissa Rusack for being the current Guinness world record holder as the World’s heaviest baby born at 14lb 5 oz. There’s a new winner and she’s from India. Nandini gave birth to a healthy baby girl in Hassan, Karnataka, India. The bonny baby girl weighed a staggering 15lbs.
The successful caesarian section delivery makes the Indian baby, the new Guinness world record holder whose weight is the same as a 6 month old child. Both mother and baby were doing fine. The current record holder was Carissa Rusack born in Massachusetts, USA weighing 14 lbs 5 oz.
1 The Heaviest Baby, Hospital Doctors Had Ever Seen
The unnamed baby girl was the heaviest doctors at the hospital in southern India had ever seen. Doctor Poornima Manu, who was the attending obstetrician-in-charge of the delivery had mentioned that the one and half hour surgery ended successfully. The baby girl was certainly big but healthy and beautiful.
Health officer Dr. Venkatesh Raju said, “In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby. She is a miracle.“
2 The Mother Weighs 94 Kg
The world’s heaviest baby weighed a good 6.8 kg, twice the size of an average newborn, which is approximately 7lb 5 oz. The Mother, Nandini is recuperating and is in good health. Nandini, herself a healthy woman and on the larger side weighs 94 kg and stands 5ft 9 inches tall. Nandini’s pregnancy was a healthy and smooth one by standards but she never bargained for such a huge and heavy baby leave alone being the new Guinness world record holder. Although Nandini was suspected to have high blood sugar, doctors confirmed that she did not suffer from diabetes which is one factor that causes obese babies.
3 The World’s Heaviest Baby Till Date Weighed a Whopping 23 Lbs
Currently the baby is being kept in neonatal intensive care and does not appear to be suffering from any health issues. Nandini’s husband is ecstatic over the birth of the baby girl and both happy parents are waiting impatiently to go home and celebrate, after all they are the proud parents of the world’s heaviest baby. This was not the first case of a large baby being born in India. In 2015, another woman named Firdous Keaton had delivered a baby boy who weighed 14.77 pounds.
Nandini’s baby will now be the official Guiness record holder of the heaviest baby in the world. However, it is on record that the heaviest baby till date was born in Canada and weighed a whopping 23 lbs 1 oz. unfortunately the mother, Anna Bates suffered from the disease of giantism and died soon after. Another healthy baby boy was born in Italy in 1955 who weighed 22 lbs .8oz. Watch the video.
