What this four year old did at the grocery store will melt your heart

Feature: It’s not every day that a four year old says she loves the elderly because of their inabilities and wants to take care of them. Tara Woods heart almost melted when a day before her four year old birthday, her little daughter told her just that. Norah revealed how she liked elderly people because of the slow way they moved, their soft skin and their gentleness.

She went on to explain in her baby language that she would like to ““love ‘em all up before they is died.”. Tara was moved beyond words and shared her story on Facebook. Little did Tara know that the little girl would surprise her even more.

1 The day of her birthday was no less surprising

The day of Norah’s birthday, Tara stopped at a grocery store to buy some cupcakes after picking her up from school. Norah once again surprised Tara by asking her to be careful or the old man walking across the parking lot at snail pace. That wasn’t the only incident. After finishing from the bakery and while standing in a clearance queue, she noticed Norah standing up in the shopping cart and waving to an old man. Tara was stunned at what the little girl said. “Hi old person! It’s my birfday today!”

Tara was shocked beyond words at the little girl calling the man an ‘Old person’. She looked extremely apologetic and was about to shush Norah when the old man stopped and looked at the little girl. What transpired next was a defining moment in Tara’s life. It changed the life of her entire family.

2 The little girl shouted out to an old man

Norah the little four year old in the grocery store was in the shopping cart along with her sister. The elderly man didn’t seem to be disturbed by the incident. He replied ‘Well, hello little lady! And how old are you today?’. The four year old girl and the old man went n to have a hearty chat and he wished her ‘happy birthday’. With that they parted and went their separate ways.

Tara again found the old man in the grocery store and asked him if he would be willing to take a photograph with Norah. It was Norah’s desire to have her photograph taken with the old man. The man was confused at first but then his face showed an expression of joy and he seemed to be delighted. ‘A photo? With me?’ he asked. Norah the pleaded. ‘Yes, suh, for my birfday!’ the man willingly agreed.

3 What she did next was unbelievable

Tara then took out her iPhone and took a photo of the old man and Norah. She even placed her soft little hand on top of his. He in turn stared at her with a sense of wonderment as she kept holding his hand. She then kissed his hand and placed it on her cheek which surprised both Tara and the old man. When she asked his name, he replied “Dan”

It seemed a magical moment right there and then. Even though the incident was blocking other shoppers, none seemed to care because they were all engrossed in the magic of that beautiful and poignant moment. The little girl and the old man chatted as if they were old friends. It seemed that almost everyone n that store received a firsthand lesson in compassion all from a little four year old girl.

4 The lives of the family were changed forever

Believe it or not, Dan himself turned out to be a person grieving for his wife who had expired some years ago. He never really got over that. Dan admits however that since he met little Norah, she has brought him a world of peace.

The incident with Norah and Dan changed the way he entire family viewed elderly people. Dan visits Norah and her family regularly and has become a good family friend. Dan even attended Norah’s birthday party.
