First Dog Quarantined As It Tests Positive For The Coronavirus

Since the start of 2020 the whole world has been in the tight grip of the coronavirus or COVID- 19. The virus started its outbreak in China and now has spread to every country except the north and south poles. As the number of infected people rises, scientists and doctors from across the globe are working overtime to find a cure before the death toll goes too high.

Now, suddenly a new discovery might set the doctors back. This discovery came in the form of the virus’ first animal patient which was a dog.

The death toll of this deadly disease has reached over 3,000 people worldwide with over 88,000 globally affected cases. There are new reports of cases in every continent except for Antarctica. The World Health Organization says the outbreak has reached the “highest level” of risk for the world with a warning that it can go in any direction.

The World Health Organization confirmed that a dog in Hong Kong has tested “weakly positive” for the coronavirus and has been put into quarantine for further more testing. It caused a shockwave through the news and online media as it was something no one saw coming. Now fear and panic are racing through the people who have dogs.

It was reported in Hong Kong that a dog tested “weak positive” for the virus which shocked everyone as this was the first case. Nobody is sure as to how the dog got infected with the coronavirus as it has been raging on for over two months and now the first animal case has come forward.

5Who did this dog belong to?

The owner of the dog was a coronavirus patient who is currently being treated. When the owner was admitted for treatment the doctors also took the dog as the owner and the pet were quite close. Upon testing the dog the result came back as a ‘weak positive’ which means the dog does carry some strains of the virus.
