In the USA alone, there have been more than 935 cases of MIS-C and 19 fatalities. MIS-C was being defined as anyone having the condition below the age of 20. The condition has been observed in children, teenagers and young adults. In summer, however, a new condition started emerging similar to multi inflammation syndrome, this time in adults that had doctors concerned in the country because this is not the latest development in the ongoing pandemic. 27 cases of MIA have been reported in the USA and Britain.

5The various cases were from different states in the country

Among the 27 cases, nine were reported to the CDC whereas 7 were published in various case reports but 16 were described in full details which were startling. The adults suffering from the new syndrome were aged between 21 to 50. All but one were in the USA with one case in the UK. The US cases were from across states like Maine, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, and Texas.

6The various symptoms of MIS-A

Among the adult syndromes observed by the doctors, some were similar in the condition affecting children. These also included rash, fever, gastrointestinal issues, palpitations, and chest pain. All the patients displayed high signs of inflammation. All of the adults were tested for the coronavirus and most turned out positive or showed positive antibody tests. In the study, the authors went on to write “The findings indicate that adult patients of all ages with current or previous SARS-CoV-2 infection can develop a hyperinflammatory syndrome resembling MIS-C.”

7Organ failure also an effect of the condition

Among the patients suffering the new multi-inflammatory syndrome, ten were sent to the intensive care for treatment, however, two didn’t make it and succumbed to the disease. The authors of the study also mentioned that those COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized could also experience complications like severe lung infection and also inflammation or infection in other organs too.
