One month more and there was one final ultrasound to be carried out. What Alexandra was told then might have most probably made her weak at the knees and fall of the chair. It was discovered that she would be having one more baby. This time Alexander started crying. She said in an interview “When we finally discovered that there was a fifth baby, I started to cry”,
7Extra preparations at the hospital on a war footing
Which woman won’t go crazy hearing that she is about to deliver five babies. This was a rare occurrence with a one in seven million chance to do so. But Alexandra wasn’t upset. She prepared herself to breastfeed all of the five little ones. On the day of the delivery, the hospital made extra preparations and organized more staff than usual for the event.
8She was yet to know the gender of her babies
Alexandra remarked that she was unable to sleep on her side although she has not faced any breathing problems. She planned to breastfeed all five babies although she understood that some of them may need artificial nutrition. Even till the big day, Alexandra was yet to know the sex of her babies. She said: ‘I very much look forward to seeing how they will look. It’s a great charm, but we cannot see anything properly – only a head or legs.’
9The quintuplets were delivered through caesarian section
The medical facility where she was about to deliver her babies doubled the midwives and medical professionals attending the delivery. Almost 40 staff were called into action for the rare event. Finally, when the delivery was over through a caesarian section, the hospital head Doctor Zbynek Stranak reported that it had gone beautifully without a flaw and no drawbacks. Alexandra was the proud mom of four boys and 1 girl.
10The names of the babies
The couple named the boys Alex, Daniel, Michael and Martin while the girl was named Tereza. All five babies were healthy and strong. None of them showed any health complications. All the babies looked beautiful.
