China Rejects WHO’s Multiple Requests To Investigate The Origins Of COVID-19
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases is over 3 million with the number of recovered over 1 million. The deadly disease has taken over 200,000 lives from across the globe and no one is safe from it. Countries are under lockdown with the pressure on governments, medial staff, and scientists rising with each passing day. The WHO has been trying to get involved in the investigation into the origins of the virus that might give us a chance to beat it but there has been one obstacle, the Chinese government.
1Is China hiding something?
This is the question on everyone’s mind. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus back in December 2019, the whole world has had its eye on China, the epicenter of the virus. Now, as the world is trying to get control of the situation the WHO or World Health Organization would like to look deeper into the matter.
2Asking China to investigate
Right now every scientist, doctor, and medial expert are working together to find a cure for this deadly virus. Since there is nothing in sight, the WHO wants to probe deeper to find the origins of the virus. Right now all we know about its origins is that it originated from Wuhan’s seafood market.
3How did it come from there?
According to the information that China released the coronavirus or COVID-19 has been around for some time but only infected animals. But the seafood market is where the virus grew strong thanks to the cross-contamination of live animals and dead animals. While many do believe this story others do not and for good reason.
4The earlier cases were not connected
Many have pointed out that the earlier cases that Beijing had reported had patients that had nothing to do with the market. Many people around the market were also not the first to be infected. Other have pointed their fingers towards the Wuhan Institute of Virology where it is known that they were studying the coronavirus.
5What about the labs?
There were two laboratories in Wuhan studying bat coronaviruses that came under the spotlight. The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) is a biosecurity level 4 facility which is the highest level for biocontainment and the second is the Wuhan Centre for Disease Control which is a level 2. This one is located not far from the fish market from where the bat coronavirus specimens came from.
