1 Child’s pose
Sit on your heels and kneel forward on the mat. Now hinge forward till your chest starts to touch the thighs and rest comfortably on it and keep the forehead on the floor. Let the hands rest beside the body and curl the shoulders forward and hold the pose for 5 breaths.
This pose brings peace to the mind and calms the stressed muscles easily. It also benefits the lymphatic and the nervous system.
2 Bridge pose
Lie on your back and bend the knees while keeping the feet flat on the floor. Now slide the hands beside the body with palms resting on the floor. Now breathe gently while pressing on the floor, lift the spine off the floor in a smooth flowing motion. Keep the knees hips width apart.
Now using the arms, try to raise your chest and use the legs and buttocks to lift the hips as high as possible. Hold the pose for 8 breaths and slowly return to the original flat pose. This pose reduces the levels of anxiety, lethargy, headaches and even insomnia.
3 Standing forward bend
Stand straight and while exhaling, start bending in the forward direction, until the palms touch the floor. You must experience a stretch in the spine, as and when the head pulls down and inwards. Straighten the legs in order to make the stretch better. Hold this pose for 8 breaths and then inhale while getting up slowly, return to the standing position. The pose helps get rid of stress in the spine, fatigue and even depression.
4 Corpse pose
The simplest and yet effective yoga poses of all, the corpse pose needs you to lie down flat on your back with legs straight out and hands resting beside you. Keep the eyes shut and relaxed and breathe deeply. Focus your attention on every part of your body and start with the head. Be like this for 5 minutes. This pose helps in relaxing the whole body and bringing a sense of calmness in you.
5 Legs up the wall pose
To begin with this pose, sit with your hips touching the wall and then lie down on your back and rest your legs on the wall. You should try and press your bottom as much as possible against the wall and hold for 5 minutes. The pose reduces the level of stress in the body and it also helps the blood flow back towards the heart from the legs, improving the lymphatic system.
