Urine is expelled out of the body through your urethra. When you cross your legs, your urethra is squeezed slightly but it is advisable to cross your legs only when standing. If you cross your legs while sitting, chances are an increase of pressure on your bladder.

6Avoid laughing

Laughing engages the core muscles and makes them taut and tense. This increases bladder pressure, and this leads to the relaxing of your sphincter muscles whose job it is to keep the urethra closed to avoid leakage or incontinence. In normal cases, the sphincter relaxes to enable urine to pass through. If you feel the urge to pee and there’s no facility around, make sure you don’t read the funnies or watch anything comical on your phone to make you start giggling.

7Think of a distraction

Even if your bladder is half-full, the nerves in the bladder start to signal the brain that it’s time to go. During this stage, the urge isn’t so strong which means you can reduce the urge by doing something that will take your mind off peeing. Think of something, browse your phone, or call up someone to pass the time till the urge goes away.
