The benefits of olive oil have now been proven in US populations according to a new study. The Mediterranean diet is considered to be the healthiest diet overall in comparison to other diets. Research has brought into spotlight one of the most essential components of the diet which is olive oil as it can boost your heart’s health. These findings had been recently presented to the American Heart’s Association scientific session about Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic health conducted in Phoenix.
1Olive oil proven to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease
According to proper analysis of immense data rooting way back to 1990 proves the risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases reduces by 15% and coronary heart diseases by 21% just by consuming 1/2 a tablespoon of olive oil per day. An improvement in heart health can be directly linked with olive oil consumption over the years. This link or relation has been seen for the first time in the U.S based population.

The relations or connection of olive oil and heart health was mostly seen in the past in Mediterranean and European populations, as proven by Ph.D., Marta Guasch- Ferre research scientist in the nutrition department of Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, Boston and the lead author of the study There has never been a previous study which could prove the result in the U.S population.

Dr. Benjamin Hirsh, director of preventive cardiology at Northwell Health’s Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital in Manhasset, New York stated that there are many health benefits of olive oil. You can replace unhealthy Trans and saturated fatty acids of animal fats with olive oil, it is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids which can improve cholesterol and decrease inflammation, stated by Hirsh. It is even related with improving Heart health, vascular function and survival.
