1 Medical Treatments
Antibiotics and Paracetamol
In case the cause of your tonsillitis is bacterial infection, there are chances that your doctor will prescribe a course of antibiotics. The most common antibiotic consumed for the treatment is Penicillin. It is imperative for you to complete the entire course of antibiotics for as many days as the doctor says even if the symptoms go away before that. Incompletion of the full course of antibiotics can result in spreading of infection to other body parts or rheumatic fever or serious inflammation of the kidney.
Paracetamol is also given to treat fever. Ibuprofen or acetaminophen are given to minimize pain in the throat.
