All it takes to get rid of acne is to keep your hands to yourself! A 7 day experiment that really made its point
3 The 7-day-no-picking experiment
A young woman tried to get rid of acne by not picking at it for one complete week. This is what happened.
Day 1 – No major changes. The redness still prevailed though.
Day 2 – No major changes either, but it was easier to keep her hands off of her face on the second day compared to the first day.
Day 3 – Slight increase in number of pimples. Still not much improvement. Had to use foundation to conceal
Day 4 – Pores still clogged, yet slim improvement in skin quality was seen.
Day 5 – 5 days into the experiment and she didn’t require foundation to hide any marks. Good improvement was detected.
Day 6 – Not only marks, but after 6 days, even the redness and the irritation reduced.
Day 7 – The final day of her experiment, and these were the results she obtained – clearer complexion, fewer pimples (quite unnoticeable), and no redness or irritation.
Although this experiment didn’t give her perfect skin to flaunt, it definitely made a significant difference. If just seven days gave way for so much improvement, then if you throw away the habit of picking your skin all together, it’s bound to rid you of acne, gradually.
4 How do I stop picking acne?
It’s simple! It’s all in your head. Exercise some self-restraint! Make it clear to yourself that if you want better skin and get rid of acne, then you need to keep your hands off your face. If you can’t do it, ask a friend to nag you until you quit. Get someone to police you everytime you get the urge to take your picking tools out. Throw away your magnifying mirror, tweezers, everything! Stick coloured post-its on your wall with messages like ‘Don’t Pick at it!’, ‘Stop touching your face!’ etc. It may sound silly but hey, it’s worth a shot!
