Chlorophyll can act as a natural deodorant. In fact, since the 1940s, chlorophyllin has been used for neutralizing certain odors. A recent study in which people with trimethylaminuria (a condition that causes a fishy odor) consumed chlorophyllin showed that it significantly decreased the number of trimethylamines.
2 Detoxifying agent that helps in preventing cancer
There have been numerous studies of the benefits of chlorophyll and its effect on cancer. The effect of chlorophyll on the growth of pancreatic cancer cells was assessed in a recent 2018 study. However, researchers were only able to find that consuming chlorophyll orally every day helped in significantly reducing the size of the cancerous tumor in mice. These mice had been transplanted with human pancreatic cancer cells.
Another smaller study consisting of 4 volunteers showed that chlorophyll was able to limit the ingestion of aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a compound that causes cancer. An older study from China revealed that when chlorophyll was consumed at every meal, it resulted in a 55% decrease in aflatoxin biomarkers in comparison to a placebo.
