2 “Brown bread is healthy, white bread is unhealthy”

This is one of the most common healthy eating myths that you probably have heard at some point in your life. However, what actually constitutes the brown color of the bread is not any healthy fiber content but the caramel in the dough. The energy and nutrients you gain from eating brown bread is basically the same as that in white bread. You can very easily gain weight by eating either brown bread or white bread. The real healthier options of bread are whole-grain breads or crispy breads.

3 “Carbohydrates need to be avoided”

This is one of the many healthy eating myths that are totally not true. There are two types of carbohydrates- simple and complex carbs. Simple carbs are the unhealthy carbs which are found in refined-sugar, jam, sweets, drinks, white bread, etc. Simple carbs need to be avoided while you need to eat more complex carbs to keep in good health. You can get these carbs from eating oats, beans, whole grains, vegetables, leafy greens, and berries.

4 “Your heath will suffer if you eat after 6 pm”

This is one old superstition which was applicable to life in the past when people would go to bed by 8 or 9 pm. With the pace of life nowadays eating a meal after 6 pm is not unhealthy, but rather makes more sense. People these days go to bed much later than their ancestors would and depriving your body food after 6 pm will only ruin your health. The actual essence of this idea was that you shouldn’t eat 3 hours before going to bed and that your dinner should be a light meal.
