Hardcore coffee drinkers will obviously not have such problems because the majority drink coffee black but then milk gives your coffee a special flavor too. But when it has been proven that coffee has several health benefits are those neutralized with milk? Will the stimulating affects of coffee that keep you mentally focused and alert be reduced by adding milk? What about the known anti-oxidant properties of coffee? Will Milk impact that adversely?
1 Some beverages have a lot of health benefits
Beverages like tea, coffee, and fruits are known for their health benefits. Coffee in fact, has been proven to be beneficial for the liver. But most of all people drink coffee because it’s the best pick me up in the mornings and the perfect day to start the day before work. But some studies have found that milk might block these beneficial compounds found in these beverages, while others have found that milk has no effect.

Both tea and coffee contain anti-oxidants that are substances that prevent oxidation of cells. During oxidation, the molecules of substances give up their electrons.
Antioxidants are substances that prevent oxidation. Oxidation is a common chemical reaction in which a molecule loses electrons thereby altering their chemical structure. It doesn’t necessarily involve oxygen, free radicals that are disease-causing agents then try to take electrons from any place they can which then damages the cells. An excess of free radicals promotes faster aging and increase the risk of degenerative diseases like dementia, diabetes and cancer. Antioxidants eliminate free radicals and are produced in the body naturally or derived from foods.
3Antioxidant foods reduce oxidative stress
Vitamin C, E, beta carotene are all types of anti-oxidants including polyphenols found in coffee and tea. According to research, a diet high in anti-oxidants can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation due to the presence of free radicals in the body. With decreased free radical activity, you will also find an improvement in general health.
There has been some research that says milk products deactivates or decrease the strength of anti-oxidants. This leads to a decrease of the positive effects they have on health.
