Top 5 Celebrity Fashion Trends of 2014

The year of 2013 was filled with thin and thick chevrons, day-glo body-conscious dresses, and bows in places where they should – and shouldn’t – be in the popular fashion world. As the calendar flipped over to 2014, however, celebs decided to tone it down a bit and fell back on some classic comforts. Here are the top five Celebrity Fashion Trends of 2014 you’re bound to find on stylish celebrities and in your favorite stores.

#1. Crop Tops

These short-but-sweet articles of clothing have become a concert series and music festival staple, showing up at Coachella and Glastonbury on many a fashion forward beauty. Shakira wears them to show off her belly dancing skills during performances and music videos, while Selena Gomez glams them up on the red carpet with a flirty skirt and heels. This is and easy go-to item for the warmer days of year, paired with high-waisted skirts or boyfriend jeans with sandals. They come in nearly every color of the rainbow, so it’s easy for the celebs to never be caught with the same style twice.

#2. Snapback Hats

Once relegated to the realms of hip-hop and R&B, snapback hats took a huge step into the mainstream this year. Top names in sports such as LeBron James, Cam Newton, and Johnny Manziel wear them when they’re getting drafted, being interviewed after a game, or walking their dog on a Tuesday afternoon. Branching further outward, A-List celebrities commonly sport these in support of their favorites teams, movies, and even statements of social commentary. Though not as large as Pharrell’s hats or V. Stiviano’s visor, actors and musicians alike use this accessory to tie together an outfit, cover a bad hair day after a grueling workout, or hide their faces from paparazzi.

#3. Jean Shorts

The women threw out their khakis and pulled out these classic gems. From the beaches of California to the streets of New York, guys and gals alike sport jean shorts any chance they can get. The beauty about jean shorts is they never truly went out of style; they only hid in the back of closets waiting to be fashionable again. High waists, dark wash, scalloped, ripped, pockets popping out from underneath, all are popular with the right tops and accessories to match. With too many varieties to count, it looks like this celebrity style will be here to stay for many years to come.

#4. Overalls

They work for farmhands and old men, but surprisingly they’ve sprung onto the celebrity fashion radar this year. Also spilling over to jumpers, this look is not just for a little girl in Kansas anymore. Jennifer Aniston, Kirsten Stewart, and Justin Beiber have all been spotted recently in overalls. This more laid-back fashion find is usually word to give off a country vibe with sunglasses or a loose braid. It hasn’t become popular on red carpets as of yet, but someone daring will surely try to pull off the look at the next casual awards show. Pharrell, this would go great with your hat!

#5. Floral Patterns

This undoubtedly had to be number one. Floral is everywhere, from their heads to their toes! All of the trends prior to this can be found in floral print. Lupita N’yongo, Julia Roberts, Michelle Williams have all sported some sort of floral pattern to an event this year. Stores all over the country are littered with flowers on pants, tops, and shoes for women and men to match their favorite celeb look. Big flowers look fantastic on the figures like Jessica Alba, while hints of small flowers can be seen on the likes of Kirsten Bell. This is the 2014 trend every celebrity has tried at least once!
