1An adorable child
We all know the story of Diana, Princess of Wales and all the incredible work she did. But many of us don’t know about the life of Diana Frances Spencer before she became a Princess. She was born on 1 July 1961 at Park House, Sandringham, Norfolk. She was number four of five children.
2Her early memory
In her book ‘Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words’ she often recalled one of her earliest memories of her childhood being the smell of her stroller. She said that she remembered the touch of it as it was plastic and could easily remember the smell of the hood.
She was the fourth child of the five children her parents John Spencer and Frances Spencer had. Their family had always been very close to the British royal family. This was a closeness that was there for many generations and Diana’s grandmother, Cynthia Spencer had served as ladies-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth I.
When Diana Spencer was born she was not given a name immediately. Her family was hoping for a boy and thought of a proper name to give her for a whole week. They soon decided to call her Diana Frances Spencer after her mother and after Lady Diana Spencer, a many-times-great-aunt.
